The Ashland County Dog Shelter is committed to caring for stray and lost dogs brought in by the Ashland County Dog Warden. Each dog is safely housed and held for a designated period, giving owners the opportunity to reclaim their pets. Unclaimed dogs are then vaccinated and made available for adoption into loving homes.
The shelter is operated by dedicated staff and the County Dog Warden, all employed through the Ashland County Commissioners. These compassionate individuals work hard every day to provide safe, temporary care for the dogs. They are tasked with enforcing Ohio Revised Code 955—which covers dogs only and does not include other animals.
Please know that the Humane Society of Ashland County is a separate, non-profit organization. They focus specifically on animal neglect and abuse cases outside the scope of the dog warden's responsibilities.
If you’d like to support their mission, please reach out to the Ashland County Humane Society at 419-281-4722 or visit their website to learn more.
We deeply appreciate the support of our community and the tireless efforts of our shelter staff and volunteers. Their compassion and commitment help ensure that every dog receives the care, attention, and second chance they deserve.
