ABOUT THE COMMITTEE

 Ohio law defines the role and the responsibilities of Policy Committees which, among other responsibilities, include the following: 

  1. The preparation and adoption of a solid waste management plan that must be approved by the political subdivisions within the District, the Board of County Commissioners of the District, and Ohio EPA.

  2. The annual review of District’s progress in implementing the District Plan and report of its findings to the Board of County Commissioners. The Policy Committee reviews the plan implementation (previous year) at the July meeting annually and then passes a resolution as to its satisfaction or dissatisfaction of its implementation then submits to the Board of County Commissioners (see Appendix C for sample resolution).

  3. Establish, change or eliminate disposal or generation fees to assure that sufficient income exists to finance implementation of the District solid waste plan.
